In the article it talks about how a lincoln man killed his girlfriend and "pleaded no contest to second-degree murder." That made me wonder what second-degree murder specifically is, and how it's different from first degree murder. I found out that second-degree murder is " an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable 'heat of passion'." I also found out that first degree murder is when a murder occurs and it was "deliberate and premeditated." The difference between the two is that second degree murder has no premeditated part.
